Precalculus: A Prelude to Calculus

Parametric Curves

Parametric curves can be used to describe the path of a point moving in the coordinate plane. Parametric curves give new insight into several precalculus topics, including the cosine and sine functions, the graphs of inverse functions, and the graphs arising from function transformations.

Because many precalculus courses do not cover parametric curves, this topic is included as Appendix B rather than in one of the chapters.
